We are seeking Volunteer Optometrists to help deliver essential eye care services to people experiencing homelessness. Our clinic is fully equipped with an auto refractor/NCT, slit lamp, trial frame and kit, digital test chart, and visual fields screening equipment, enabling volunteers to provide high-quality clinical care in a supportive environment. Volunteer Optometrists will work alongside a small team of experienced assistants and dispensing opticians, who will support patients with the dispensing and fitting of spectacles following the clinician’s recommendations. A wide range of free spectacles can be provided, including single vision, bifocal, and varifocal lenses with various coating options, ensuring patients receive the care they need at no cost. All work is covered under the Vision Care indemnity insurance policy, so separate indemnity cover is not required. Applicants must be GOC and NHS registered, and flexible shifts are available to fit around your availability.
