About the London Walk
For the past couple of years Vision Care has proudly taken part in the London Walk supporting people experiencing homelessness. Organised by the London Homeless Collective, the event brings together a wide range of homelessness charities, united in walking as one.
Walkers challenge themselves to walk either 10K, half a marathon or a full marathon in aid of their chosen charity (with minimum targets of £200, £300 & £400 respectively*). Walking through the night offers a powerful opportunity for reflection—on those forced to sleep rough, those who have fled their homes due to violence, and those without a safe and secure place to call home.
(*Note minimum fundraising targets are figures from the 2026 walk, set by event organisers).

Supporter stories

Elaine is trustee with Vision Care and took part in the walk last year and again this year.
‘London is a beautiful city, but not so good if you are experiencing homelessness and don’t have glasses. Thank you to all the volunteers, trustees, staff and donors who joined us for the London Night Walk’

Prashant, (pictured L) volunteers as an optometrist at our London clinic and has witnessed firsthand the positive impact our service has on people’s lives. With the first section of the walk passing close to the clinic, taking part felt especially meaningful.
‘Last night, I completed a 10k charity walk in support of Vision Care alongside fellow volunteers, trustees and supporters of this vital charity. Vision Care provides free eye examinations and glasses to people experiencing homelessness, helping to restore not only sight but also dignity and confidence. It was inspiring to take part in an event organised by the London Homeless Collective and to see so many people coming together to support important causes. Walking through London at night was also a powerful reminder of the reality many people face every day, with far too many forced to sleep rough and live without a safe place to call home.’

Grace, pictured far right - who is Head of Marketing for Mondottica UK took part with 5 members of her team, as part of the company’s charity of the year partnership.
‘Taking part in The London Walk on behalf of Vision Care was a powerful and reflective experience for our team, highlighting the realities faced by those without a safe place to call home. At Mondottica, we are proud to support Vision Care’s vital mission to tackle inequalities in eyecare and provide free eye tests and glasses for people affected by homelessness.

Previous years
The first year we took part, we had 14 walkers, then in 2026 the Vision Care team was 22 strong. In both events we had participants taking part across all three distances. The London Walk provides a meaningful opportunity for our supporters, staff and volunteers to come together, raising vital funds through sponsorship to support our free eyecare services.
