Crisis at Christmas
Crisis at Christmas is a charity appeal that helps provide warm meals, shelter, support and companionship at Christmas to those experiencing homelessness. More than that, the impact of Crisis at Christmas lasts long after Christmas as guests are introduced to Crisis’ year-round services.
Over the years, we have adapted our Christmas services based on evidence of what works to provide more intensive support to people experiencing the most extreme and isolating form of homelessness – those rough sleeping – to help them take the first steps out of homelessness.
What do Vision Care do as part of Crisis at Christmas
Vision Care and Crisis UK have been in partnership running an Opticians Service in London each Christmas for over 23 years. Volunteer Optometrist, Dispensing Opticians and Assistants offer their professional skills every Christmas to provide eye tests and glasses to people affected by homelessness.
This annual partnership is how Vision Care started and led to it now operating five clinics in city centres across England and Scotland, as well as beginning to deliver Mobile Vision Services across the UK.
Every person we see leaves with better sight and the confidence that comes with it.
